The Stupidity of Democrats
This is the unbelievable stupidity of Democrat candidates and the mind-numbingly feeble-minded people who vote for them.
First, you must understand this one simple fact... the U.S. Government has no money of its own. Not. One. Penny. Every cent they receive is through taxation of its citizens.
So now, if you understand this, you may proceed.
I don't believe he's really thought this through, though truthfully, he's counting on you not thinking this through. He's counting on voters, raised on "victimhood", to hear the words "free money" and then get to high ground to watch as his constituents - palms sweating and eyes rolled-up in their heads - trample each other in a stampede to get to the voting booth.
Please don't be one of those people.
If taxpayers are to receive 1k a month, taxpayers must pay 1k a month in taxes to cover the thousand dollars going to someone else - 1k a month x say, 160 million working people, the cost per month is 160 BILLION or 1.92 TRILLION per year. So, why not just cut everyone's taxes by 1k a month? Because we can't afford the nearly $2 trillion added on to the debt each and every year. And if you pay the $1k in taxes the government will be taking a cut to pay for the people sending out the checks, which means we would have to pay more than a thousand a month to cover government operating expenses. So, you might end up paying $1100 a month in taxes, to get back $1000.

It's kinda' the way the government works, and why you should always be wary of the "good intentions" of government.
Since this is a for-everyone proposition, all we are doing is giving it to each other. And if taxpayers are paying out this money, why not cut out the middle man (the government) and I'll just wander over to my neighbors on the first of the month and give him the thousand? Then he can follow me back to my house and give me the same thousand dollars back.
No, you aren't confused. The idea of "universal basic income" is that simple and yes, utterly that stupid.
The monumental idiocy of the pandering, scheming Left - who know full well they can get votes for ideas like this, but have literally no chance of such legislation ever seeing the light of day - is staggering. I'm more worried about those who will vote for the "confidence man" politicians.
Just remember... Free isn't free and if you want something, you are going to have to work for it. That's what adults do.
